A simple guide to cook this steak
Remove tomahawk steak from the fridge one hour before cooking.
Turn on your oven and heat it to 200 degrees Celsius.
Remove all packaging and tap dry steak with a kitchen towel.
Sprinkle coarse salt generously on your steak. Don't worry, the meat will take only what it needs, the rest can be brushed off later.
Heat a thick-bottom pan or griddle, add some oil and wait until it starts to slightly smoke. As you can see, my pan wasn't big enough to fit the entire bone, if that's the case for you too, don't worry because it'll continue cooking in the oven.
Place your tomahawk steak on the fat side and sear it. Then put it on on its front and back and sear them for 3 minutes each.
Place your steak in a tray and cook it in the oven for 12-13 minutes for a medium rare cooking point. Add 3 minutes for medium.
Remove from oven, cover with foil and let your steak rest for half its cooking time. Resting allows juices to remain inside.
Remove foil, slice as desired and enjoy!
These timings worked for me but remember our ovens vary greatly and you know yours best so do adapt timings accordingly.
