The ultimate selection for the festive period, our Wine Experience Selection includes the six following exquisite wines:
Michelini Brothers Verdes Cobardes, Mendoza, Argentina
Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Viognier and Chardonnay from Tupungato
Fragrant, fresh and abundantly fruity from start to finish.
And what about the name? Verdes Cobardes means Green Cowards in Spanish. This is what some of Matias', the winemaker, neighbours call him as they say early picking is cowardly, not waiting for so-called 'optimum ripeness'.Matias himself says: "Cobardes are those of us who choose to pick the grapes with less maturity in the search for a wine with expression, tension, nerves and depth."
Susana Balbo Signature Torrontés - Mendoza, Argentina
Pale gold with bright reflections. On the nose, this wine seduces with hints of white pear, white flowers and ripe peach. On the palate, it has a beautiful structure and acidity along with enticing fruit flavours. Plenty of body for a wine that shows such delicate aromas and flavours. Fruity, floral and yet still quite dry.
Catena Paraje Altamira Malbec - Mendoza, Argentina
100% Malbec. 12 months in 85% French oak and 15% American oak
Coming from one of the premier regions for producing top-grade Malbec, this rich wine with spices and a touch of leather embraces flavour profiles of plum, blackberry and red fruits, with notes of vanilla, lavender and mocha.
The wine goes through a process of cold maceration over a 5-day period at 10°C. It then goes through fermentation for 16 days and this is then followed by a 10-day post-fermentation process.
Exclusively provided to us by Catena Zapata.
Viña Progreso Overground Sangiovese - Uruguay
A seductive wine with lots of nostril action – ripe strawberries and cherries, hints of violets, thyme, leather and a nicely integrated touch of vanilla pod. Lovely acidity in the mouth balances out a fairly ripe, soft style very nicely, with juicy cherry and plum flavours mingling with a subtle touch of oak.
Las Mercedes Singular Carménère - Chile
The nose is that same lovely aroma you get when you cut into a big fresh green bell pepper, that wonderful burst of aromatic spray, capsicum, almost akin to Cabernet Franc but with an added succulence. Dark, rich, soft, chewy, juicy but fresh, elegant – beautifully balanced and light on the oak.
Atamisque Assemblage - Mendoza, Argentina
Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
14 months in new French oak.
On the nose it offers forest fruits, floral notes, vanilla pod, spice, chocolate and black jam. The palate follows through in similar vein and is a masterclass in the use of new French oak barrels.
